Encore Metals and Team Tube were purchased by RSAC in 2007, and Reliance Metals Canada Limited was established in 2009, as the executive company to Encore, Team Tube, and EMJ Canada. The Canadian subsidiary of Continental Alloys & Services Inc. became a part of RMCL in 2012 to unite all the Canadian businesses in the Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co. family.
RMCL takes an unconventional approach to its corporate structure, with a decentralized headquarters. Our President is based in Calgary, AB. We have a Vice President in the West, in Edmonton, AB and a Vice President in the East in Toronto, ON. Our finance team is stationed in Vancouver, BC, and Human Resources is based in Edmonton, AB, and Montreal, QC. Safety & Quality is situated in Toronto, ON, and Communications in Calgary, AB. This gives us the ability stay in touch with all the different market and industry conditions across the country and quickly adapt and respond when necessary.

Our proprietary “Safe Point” and "Quality Resources" technology- based programs ensure thorough attention to all elements of our health and safety and quality programs and drive our success in safety, employee participation, compliance and quality service.
Employee engagement and participation is encouraged with our “Safe Points” Incentive Program. Employees are awarded incentives for reporting substandard conditions, near misses, participating in workplace inspections, attending safety meetings and for making suggestions that improve our safety program.
In 2017, RMCL locations collectively conducted 145 Safety Meetings and 170 Facility inspections. We take pride in ensuring our facilities and people are safe.
All of our EMJ and Encore Metals, and Continental Alloys & Services Canada locations are registered to ISO 9001:2015. Our locations in Alberta are COR certified through Partners in Injury Reduction and we have implemented the same program requirements and expectations at all of our locations.
